What is an ATS?
An applicant tracking system is software that companies use to collect, parse and rank job applications. It reads the text of your resume, sorts it into fields and matches it against the job, often before a recruiter sees it.
Is the ATS checker free?
Yes. The ATS check in ResumeX is free to use and runs in your browser, so you don't need an account to try it.
How is the ATS score calculated?
Your score combines three groups: parsing (can the PDF be read), content quality (verbs, numbers, structure) and, if you paste a job description, keyword and requirement match. Critical problems such as unreadable text cap the score.
What is a good ATS score?
85 or above is excellent and 70 to 84 is good. More important than the number is fixing the items marked as failures, especially parsing problems and missing keywords from the job.
Does the checker read my actual PDF?
Yes. Most checkers only look at the text you type. We render the real PDF you would download and extract its text the way an ATS does, so layout problems show up too.
Is my resume uploaded anywhere?
No. The ATS check runs entirely in your browser. Your resume is only sent to our servers if you choose the optional AI review afterwards.
